Know-your-customer checks can involve sensitive identity and payment information. A request for documents should be assessed for necessity, secure handling, and consistency with the destination’s published privacy and account terms.
Ask why and how data is collected
Check which documents are accepted, which details are necessary, how the upload is secured, who processes the information, how long it is retained, and how privacy questions can be raised. Do not send documents to an unverified personal account.
Keep account and payment details consistent
Identity, account holder, and payment-owner names may need to match. Do not edit documents or use another person’s payment method. Resolve spelling or profile errors with verified support before a transaction becomes urgent.
Recognise unsafe requests
Passwords, complete card PINs, wallet seed phrases, remote device access, and an OTP for an unknown transaction are not ordinary identity evidence. Stop if a requester uses threats, secrecy, or payment demands to rush compliance.
Quick checklist
- Read the privacy notice before uploading.
- Use only the verified document portal.
- Provide only requested, relevant information.
- Never share passwords, seed phrases, or transaction OTPs.
